Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
Anchor: figurative a person or thing that provides stability or confidence in an otherwise uncertain situation, secure
firmly in position: provide with a firm basis or foundation, cornerstone, linchpin, bulwark, secure, fasten, attach, affix.
In the last several weeks the words “The Anchor Holds” have been trumpeted at different levels in my spirit, setting me on a journey.
Heb. 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.
Rom. 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
Acts 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Hope: 1 a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen: 2 grounds for believing that something good may happen: hopefulness, optimism, expectation, expectancy; confidence, faith, trust, belief, conviction, assurance; promise, possibility. This drew up a mix of verses triggered in my memory by just reading the words...moving on I was reminded of a question I have had come up over the word in:
Colossians 1:7 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Befuddled that some words do not stick in my brain I asked a question... James1: 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Matt.21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Jn.14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Matt.7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
1Jn.2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
Abide: (abide by) accept, comply with, obey, observe, follow, keep to, hold to, conform to, adhere to, stand by, act in accordance with, uphold, heed, acknowledge, respect, defer to, tolerate, bear, stand, endure, continue, remain, survive, last, persist, stay, live on. This raises several questions in me: We have been taught about the power of one man, we have been taught about metamorphosis, we have been taught about building three d apothecaries as a tabernacle made available...we have been taught about renewing the mind in the midst...yet the above raises one question for me...who will abide the time...and say though he slay me yet will I praise thee...one closing thought... there in the anchor HOLDS!
Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.
